Art-art. The mostly flat kind. Not strictly 2D, but 2D adjacent. Mostly stationary. Possibly your granddaddy's idea of 'art'. Kinda. Quasi-2-dimensional self expression in visual form. I caveat because paintings can be dimensional and so can body art, and so is some of the weird mixed media stuff. Also, no offense if your granddaddy was DuChamp or something.
FEATURED
10I sort of wish I knew.
But maybe it's best that I've forgotten what any of this ever meant.
Kept this view so you could see the gem in the center twinkling with a catchlight, and the holographic foil. Really should have taken a video, but had to save space on my phone. Anyway, I sent it to someone, so I don't have it anymore.
Watching Paris, TX.
Drawing Tyco Croll's slick new sombrero.
Drawing some line of motion action shots. His booty makes me laugh, so here.

I didn't realize how many lechy birds I draw until this assembling this gallery's thumbnails.
Annoying classmate in psych class.
This one creeps me out, man. :-/ Pretty cursed, honestly.
Really a worst case scenario portrait of all involved, but it made me laugh. Wasn't going for early Groenig or Mike Judd, but here we are.
We had a pretty cool patrician going here, but then I thought, "It just doesn't really look like him."
So I added detail, and ofc the light was changing, and he was moving, and he didn't perhaps know he was being drawn.
Okay, so not THAT worried. Oh god, let's bring back some of that apex predator alpha male protein-swigging essence, cos you can't do a homie dirty giving him a torture hobbit tragi-face.
You know what's funny, I drew him sharp cos that's his psyche, but not actually his features - his features are quite round & smooth.
WOW. Then I REALLY overcorrected and went full Joffrey.
This is a DISASTER. WTF AM I GOING TO DO?! I could undo, but let's tai chi this Bob Ross style! No going back! Only forward! The only way out is through! The darkest light is before the dawn! I can salvage this drawing!
LOOK. It's nothing a horizontal flip can't solve, ok??
whew. thank god he looks a little rugged again. Hey, this is shaping up to resemble him, actually...
But now I'm wondering what I was thinking with this color scheme & background. I totally just leapt headlong into the whole thing without planning. Is this even a good image or composition? I'm just lying here gazing at homie having a lil drink on the porch & didn't for one moment stop to think about framing or anything. As usual, classic Monk style, zoomed in on a handful of planes & features and built outward from that without much consideration of the macrocosm of image composition.
This was a hard fought battle for arguably not much. I really went through some dark nights of the soul trying to make this image into something. Why did it still come out so mediocre? Seems like it's taken a really long time but I'm still not convinced it's done.
But then again, sometimes you just need to leave things alone for a bit. Maybe someday, I'll see a direction to better this.
Honestly, I think my greatest frustration is that it's 2D CG and there was no ability to properly texture or layer in a corporeal way. I wanted to have some grit on this page, and it's just a shiny flat screen. Procreate's a great tool, but I want my hands dirty if I'm trying to make someone feel.
...hang on, that came out wrong.
For how smart you are vs how free masonic? Idk. They were game icons I was working on for Eudaemonia. I'm joking about the "free masonic" stat. I think that was supposed to represent "observation".
I feel like his name was Bentley, but maybe I'm misremembering.
She's so pretty, I love her, even though her vapid sulk says basically nothing.
So the middle guy is Brad.
I tried to make a color-and-texture-coded emotional timeline over a period of time.
Then redacted the actual 'event' content by blurring it.
A real class act.
Never met him. He never said anything to me. His name was lost to time, and the file abbreviated to c-harsheet, so that's his name now.
Basically a legend.
Uncle Bubba originated in ~2009. He has his own action figure.

I chase the paradise

This was totally inspired by McKean's Gunslinger illustrations & Neil Gaiman illustration style that blew my mind.
Pretty sure this version was just a comp of a bunch of smooth Juxtapoz / ImagineFX goodness I'd recently seen & wanted to try out firsthand.
I'm calling this "Manga" style because I can't remember who I was looking at when finding aspirational manga references, and I know this doesn't resemble any of the usual suspects I'd be enticed by - Maki Murakami, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Alichino, David Mack, Frank Miller, Tatsuyuki Tanaka, Jinjo Ito...?

This horrifying guy is available in mug form.
Undressing you with his eyes as you sip your strong cup of joe, each morning. What more could anyone ask for on this vast earth?
IRL, mostly I pass as sane and coherent, I think. But then I start making speech bubbles for the voices, and here we are.
What else COULD they be saying, though? You know?
Marcos Ezekiel Buendia Equis. He combs his hair with a prickly pear, flosses his teeth with rattlesnakes; he once made love to la Llrona. No one's ever seen the whites of his eyes and lived to tell their tale.
This was actually for a client.
I guess I shouldn't sound so incredulous.
They really liked it.
I am using too many adverbs.
Of course they did.
I am legitimate.
I am beginning to think what separates great artists from nobodies is how straight of a face you can keep.
Look, I mean that. I don't think this is bad. I actually love it. It's very dear to my heart. I'm just never not surprised when someone else agrees.
And I see a lot of art out there that's so bad, and people bought it, and people keep using it, and clearly they think that's okay, and I see 'real artists' selling stuff that's absolute nonsense, and other things that are just boring, and they seem to be making a living this way without necessarily being someone's niece or nephew, but.
It's always funny to me when I make everyone into monkeys and the people involved don't mind. Takes a rare kind of good humor.
I don't mean to roast the clients, but my conscious mind isn't ever doing this; it's my deranged id that takes over and makes art, so god knows what's going to come of it. It's a really unsafe process!!! :O Trying to turn weaponized auto-cartoons into someone's commercial asset is not a sure bet.
Robert the bully from Filantropica.
During undergrad, my employer busted in and asked me to crank out a promotional poster in a few hours, so I whipped this out.
Some of the titles I gave things in my 20s were autismo af. Real home school culture laid bear for all the internet to see. In some cases, those are still unapologetically the names.
For some of us, rizz is a lifelong cultivation. But these names remain canonical for a pre-glow-up socially abysmal inner child.
This was a "Look, I can make that crap!" moment. Briefly, my soul was hollowed out, and there was only the directionless desperation of rapacity for commerce. This heinous bear was its face.
Headlight & tail light design is pretty badass so I spent a rainy day going really hard on creating vector concepts.

Once again, I can barely believe they accepted this, but I am so happy they did. Because I was thinking, this is what I'd want to see if I was reading a math text book. It would be such a little pick me up. Just the slightest acknowledgement of our shared humanity.

God you can almost taste the bread. Honestly, I cry a little tear of joy when I look at this, because it's totally vector and scalable.

Listen. I made an Adobe Illustrator vector bean brush, a tomato brush, a rice brush, and a lettuce brush for this project. Just in case you ever need those. You know who to call.

This berry juice went too hard for acceptance as the final product, because we were working from a style sheet so all the artists' illustrations would match up, but my heart still belongs to this maximalist juice box design.

More King of the Hill fan art.
This all came about after a discussion about "pain face". I thought it would be funny to draw pain face. But I only hurt myself with how horribly cursed the image was.
As for the "flippin' sweet" Luyu decal - I was thinking about the inanity of 90s cartoon t-shirts and temporary tattoos with bizarre slogans.
Collab with Dingo. We redrew each other's Drawception avatars. This was his redrawing of mine.
