Once upon an internet 2.0, there used to be this one great app that was free. One of so many. The particular app did all the things Colorbird does, you know, in its cute little ye olde way. BUT THEN...
...the internet became commercialied. Little startups quivered on the crests of tsunami waves wrought by devouring kaiju tech-monopolies until splintering into their ever gaping late stage capitalist maws. Some fought valiantly. Some surrendered haplessly. Some were built for just such sacrifice to the Matthews Effect.
One such casualty of the upheaval was the aforementioned plucky little palette-maker start up, which was subsequently dismantled, rebranded, and regurgitated as a nerfed husk locked behind a data mining paywall, demanding both your money and your commodification as consumer data.
Anyhoo...we now found ourselves only yesterday, in that very post-singularity hellscape.
But dry your salty tears, now brethen, for today there is COLORBIRD: PALETTEMANIA.

Your computer builds website locally using temporary caches on your own hard drive, which build the live website you actively see in something called the DOM. The DOM is generated locally on your machine, based on principles/algorithms on my server. If I allowed users to save to my server, I'd need to add a firewall for that particular task, and you'd need to trust my server not to store and/or abuse your sensitive photos or data. But the way this app is set up, it never leaves your computer. It's stored in your browser cache. If you clear your cache, or reformat your computer, it will eventually go away. That's the only downside - so save your work! I built a bunch of export tools to make that turnkey for you.
I think it's one of the better such sites. After over a decade of graphic design, art direction and work in other aesthetic fields, I have a sense of what was compelling and arguably needed. But you do you.
